Fireworks

Fireworks at the corner church nearby

corner church far golf course on left
We walked out to the back of our apt complex overlooking the golf course to see the fireworks on the 4th of July.  They set them off at the golf course and the corner church so like you can see in the picture on the right sometimes we were getting both of them.  It was a good show.

Our air conditioner flooded our bathroom on Sat night... just called up mtce and they came and fixed it right away.  No fuss no muss.  Jim says that that won't happen in our house though since the air conditioner is all outside.  Well at least now the floor is really clean in the wash room.  We just stuck around here for the whole long weekend.  We figured it would be too crowded at the beach.  Drove up to the hill country up I10 to see a place that rents kayaks.  It was just like driving up in the Gatineaus.  It was a nice drive but not worth it just to kayak when I can rent one down near where our new house will be.  You can rent them near where the bike paths start down there so I can ride a bike over, rent a kayak and then bike home when we get down there.... Yeah.  Just have to buy a bike first but that will wait until we move in since we don't want to have to move too much.  Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Day off today for the 4th of July

I had to work on the first but had today off for the 4th.  Belated Happy Canada Day everyone and early Happy 4th of July for tomorrow everyone.
Jim and I went golfing today at the golf course near where our house is being built.  It was pretty hot but Jim used my push cart and I rented a cart so we got by.  I have a Gimmee pass which gives me 6 free rounds of golf if I pay for a cart so I used one of those rounds today.  The pass also lets me golf after work for $10 if I walk and 15 if I take a cart.  So far I walk after work but take a cart when we do 18 holes on the weekend.  Jim carries when I walk but uses my push cart all of the rest of the time.  Today he put up the umbrella on it to help give him shade since he forgot a hat.  When we had to wait on some holes Jim could sit with me in my cart in the shade.  It was just in the low 90's so not too bad.  No sign of  100 degree weather yet.
We went to see the house of course when we were there.  We now have sod on the one side of the house because our neighbours got sod so it only made sense to give us ours on that side.  We just hope that the  neighbours water it until we get there.  It looks pretty bad now.  Before we wanted it to stop raining but now the sod would like some water....  Not much different inside.  We finally got to go in and see the carpets down.  They have done a lot of touch up painting and plastering and the thermostat is in for the air and heat but didn't see anything else.  We do the walk through on the 22nd so hope they get the rest done soon.  The houses behind ours are going up fast.  The street down there is almost full of houses now.

Finally got to the beach again

It has been awhile since the weather has not cooperated.  It was a great day there.  Lots of people on vacation now so it is getting packed now.  Lots of people on the other end where you are supposed to have 4 wheel drive.  Lots of them there for the weekend with wood for bonfires that night.  A volleyball tournament of sorts was going on with 6 nets set up.  Lots of tents and trailers but one unique set up I had to take a picture of - kind of ingenious.  Pictures of it aren't that clear but didn't want to get in trouble taking pictures of them.  Lots of bocce, horse shoes, bean bag tossing going on as well as lots of fun in the water.  Jim and I took long walks, played catch in the water, read our books, I did some needlepoint and people watched.
Can't Beat the View

Lots of people but I can share

Its all about listening to the waves lulling you to a calm

This is where the campers are - note the white roof on right

Yes folks that is an outhouse on the back of a truck with a full bbq and table down the right side of the truck

These guys were there to party and have a great time

Tarp on the side of the truck for more some shade

This is a dog not a cow.  Believe it or not there were two like this one and one big black one.  Good job we didn't have sparky cause he would have tried to take them on.  It is too hot now to take sparky to the beach since he won't go in the water to cool off like the other dogs do.

House on the way to the beach again

The door was locked on the house yesterday so didn't get to go in... could have got the key but since Jim was in the day before we didn't bother.  The carpets are done though and we looked more at the fence.  The back yard is bigger than we thought it would be and the tree supplies lots of shade which is great.  I like the privacy.  Before the fence when you sat on the back deck you would look right at the neighbours back deck.  Now you can't see anywhere outside of the back yard so they can't see you either.  It will kinda be like being back on Mason Street where we had the high hedges for privacy.  We have the cedar here... just in a different form ; )
pretty small deck  about third of the size of the balcony at the apt but the 2 chairs table and foot stools will fit I think

IT went to Top Golf as a team building event

On Thursday afternoon the IT department went to Top Golf as a team building event.  I was on the Jalapeno team.  We came third but had the golfer with the top score on our team.  I did awful  You can do a really nice hit and not score any points.  You have to get the ball to hit a target or hit it hard enough to hit the fence and apparently I am not any good at either.  I could hit it right up the middle and not hit any of the targets and flub one and get it in.  It was fun though trash talking the other groups.  We were all mixed up on the teams so got to know other members of  IT that I do not normally work with.  There were 6 teams with 12 or 13 people on a team so we have quite a large IT department.  I forgot to take pictures so downloaded one of the web so you could see what it looks like or you can google top golf.... there are quite a few of them in the states.  It is better than having a golf tournament since everyone is together, so you see more people not just the 4 in your foursome in a tournament.

Picture of the house from the 7th Tee Box

Jim is golfing this morning at Mission Del Lago so sent me this picture from the 7th Tee.  Our house is in the middle....1 2 story, 2 bungalows to the left then another 2 story... ours is the first bungalow on the left.  Sorry  I don't see a way on this blog tool to point to it.  It is pretty well in the center of the picture though
