Electric Grill (bbq)

We found an electric grill on sale at HEB(the grocery store) so we picked it up.  We just sit it on one of the tables that I had bought.  You cannot have a gas one etc on the balcony but we can't see any rules against an electric one so we can finally bbq.  The weather is really nice again so it is nice to be outside while we can.  We went shopping for bikes too but didn't pick up any yet.  Still pricing them but they will be the next purchase for down here.  All of the things that we didn't bring down we have to buy... like a decent spoon and spatula we also got this weekend....Amazing what you take for granted that is just supposed to be in your kitchen drawer that you have accumulated over time.  Stay warm up there Y'ALL

Jim and I went down town and toured the Alamo. Then we walked around the Market down there and looked over the Riverwalk  It was 22 degrees today so warm again.  It is supposed to get cold again but enjoying the weather while it lasts.

One more crewel picture done

My next kit that I brought down to do is needlepoint.  It has been sitting around partly done for a long time as well.  The walls in the apt are getting filled with nice pictures at least.  I have been wearing my knitted dresses to work so one lady asked me to make one for her.  She has picked out an easy pattern.  I have no idea how much wool costs down here though so until I price it for her she is not committing.  Not sure how long it will take to knit a dress - it has been a long time since I knit the other ones.  They are nice and comfy at work since where my desk is is very cold.  When I wear the sweater dresses I do not have to use my blanket at my desk.  Others are not as cold as me so maybe the chemo thinned out my blood so I am cold.  I have lots of warm clothes though so am good.  Jim gave me the flu so I have been taking the leftover drugs for him so hopefully I will be ok for work tomorrow.   The sun came out this afternoon so I sat out on the balcony in the sun finishing this picture.  No I didn't have a coat on... it got warm again.  Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Freezing rain - not as bad as forecasted

The weather news was afraid of a lot of ice this weekend as it dipped below freezing and lots of rain but luckily it wasn`t as bad as forecast.  As you can imagine they don`t have the sand and salt trucks so people just do not go out when it is too bad of weather.  Usually they just work from home.  This time it was on a weekend so not too much disruption.  You could see ice on the trees but it was above freezing when I went out so didn`t have any problems.  We went out to a restaurant for supper and it was packed since there was a football game on and all the ice was melted by then.  Stayed in most of the day so have most of the next crewel picture done...just a little one so will take a picture later when it is done.  Framed the other one but need to redo it.  Jim was sick in bed most of the week with the flu so I tried to frame it by myself... it will be better with two people stretching it so I think I will redo it with him helping me to stretch out some of the wrinkles.

Warm Sat so golfed then walked on Sunday below freezing tonight

The weather goes up and down like a yo yo here.  Golfed on Sat at a beautiful course.  Very hilly so got lots of exercise.  It is the closest one that Jim goes to and the scenery is really beautiful.  He golfed again on Sunday but it got a little chilly so I took Sparky to the park for a long walk instead.  Finished my veggie bowl so can frame it tomorrow night.  It is supposed to go below zero tonight so I have to find my scraper.

Happy New Year

Our last day of 2014 was Wet, Rainy, Windy, Cold and down right miserable.  We drove over to Port Isobel to see what it was like and then went shopping in a few stores and then came back to the room to play cards.  We finally figured out that we were not in Cuba... we do not have to stay in this wet place until our airplane comes to get us we can go home.... The forecast is for two more days of rain so we are out of here.  We are checking out today and driving home.  What a novel idea.  Nice to not have to stick around to the end of your scheduled time.  Have a Happy 2015 everyone.
